How to choose the right dog breed: The Airedale Terrier
The Airedale Terrier, though a fairly large dog, can be group with small to tiny dogs, many of them also terriers. If you favor the feisty, spirited terriers but want one with long legs to romp through fields with you, consider an Airedale. As is typical of terriers, the Airedale is quite high in aggressive traits but rather moderate on reactivity traits. Those who are fond on terriers but nevertheless want to get away from their extremes in reactivity, including excessive barking, may find the Airedale ideal.
You rarely find a terrier - of any breed - low on snapping and easily dominated. If your family members will be fairly assertive toward an Airedale, it would appear to offer a lot in home protection and as a playmate. The Airedale is within the top few of all breeds on both destructiveness and playfulness, higher than is typical for other terriers. One of the few terriers that ranks only modestly on demand for affection, you wouldn't expect the Airedale to pester you for attention, even though it is one of the most playful breeds.
The Airedale:
Weight: 50 lbs
Height: 23 in.
Build: Average
Coat: Wiry, short; little shedding with regular grooming, professional clipping customary.
Color: Tan and black
